Praha Zoo

Slon (elephant)

One thing that is more different about Prague from the US is that the dogs here are not put on leashes. Instead, they are so well trained that they follow ahead or behind of their masters like curious people: with their heads held high, walking briskly. It is very curious. They are never distracted or off course, and they never lose their owners, bark at strangers, bite people, or run off. They do pee on everything. Everything. People bring their dogs everywhere. To dinner, on the metro, and even.... to the zoo! At the zoo it was particularly funny to see the dogs interact with the other animals. I saw a few dogs go nuts over the penguins. You could just tell they wanted to eat them. Just have a bite, a penguin snack. But you also sensed that the dogs knew this was out of the realm of possibility. They are so well behaved. Very strange. That would never happen in the US.

A very vicious but lovable beast, Julie.

Lední medvéd (polar bear), also known as Julie to some (Hi Heather!)
