Panorama-rama

A small church in Prague 7. This picture is actually about 4X4 ft. I <3 Panoramas!

The view from the Metronome in Letna, a park near my flat. This spot was first home to a huge statue of Stalin, and then to one of Michael Jackson, and now to a constantly ticking metronome that overlooks Praha. Letna is a popular place to meet and sit when the weather is nice. Sometimes it seems that everyone in the world is there. Mostly, because this is where all the beer gardens are.

A Lovely, Unknown Bridge in Praha. This may be one of the few pictures taken of a bridge in Prague that is NOT the Charles Bridge. I have yet to take many pictures on the Charles Bridge, mostly for fear of standing still too long and being pickpocketed. But if you stay away from the obviously touristy traps, there's actually very little crime in Prague.

This spot overlooks Prague from the Prague Castle Vineyards! Its a bit of a hike up to the castle (or you can take a cute little tram) but the view is spectacular. I live at the bottom on this hill. Letna, the park two pictures up, is the green area in the center of this picture. The Tower on the far hill on the right is Petrin Tower. It's a replica of the Eifel Tower. I'm not sure why they bothered to build a copy only 500 miles from Paris (true fact, Paris to Prague--> only about 500 miles.) but its pretty cool to go up there. And they have a mirror maze to wander about in.

This is me standing on another awesome bridge in Prague, not the Charles Bridge. Directly above my shadow you can see Frank Gehry's Dancing House. It's a masterpiece to see upclose. I'm still not sure how it stays upright. It's nickname is Fred & Ginger because it sways and leans like a dancing couple. The bridges in Prague are everywhere. So are the tiny, winding streets, and tiny little restaurants with no names. When you find something once it is never quite certain if you will find it again. Its been fascinating getting lost over and over again. Every time I think I know my way around I find something a little bit different or figure out a short cut that doesn't even make sense. So far it hasn't been frustrating because I haven't had a strict schedule and I am hopelessly in love with the city. By the time I have regular classes or the weather turns nasty, hopefully I will have mastered a little more of Prague.

Above is a close up of the Dancing House. Last week, my roommate Anna R and I were walking back from dinner. It was dark but a great deep blue night and we were enjoying the view by the river. I looked up and was startled: we were under the dancing house! It looked spectacular all light up.
